CHRISTINE MODERBACHER (born 1982) studied Social Anthropology and German as a Foreign Language at the University of Vienna/ Austria and specialised on Refugee, Migration and Visual Anthropology. For her Master Thesis Representation and Strategies of Resistance of Tunisian Women. “Case Studies” of Individual Actors, she conducted field-work in Tunis. Christine had a training in media education and worked as a social worker and media trainer with young migrants in Vienna, followed by an internship at the Brussels based NGO International Partnership of Human Rights. Since September 2009, she is conducting a Master in Visual Anthropology specialized in Ethnographic Documentary at the University of Manchester, England. ANNIKA LEMS (born 1982) studied African Studies and Social Anthropology at the University of Vienna/ Austria and specialised on Forced Migration and Human Rights. For her Master thesis Places of Non-Law. Somalian Refugees and the Production of Spaces out of law in Italian Detention Centres, she conducted fieldwork in Italy. Since 2007 Annika has been working as a free journalist in Vienna. As a recipient of a three-years scholarship, she will be working on her Phd in the field of refugees and refugee-law at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. RICHARD SOLDER (born 1982) studied Mass Media and Communication Studies at the University of Vienna/Austria and focused on Journalism and International Relations. His Master Thesis “Who’s afraid of the Bremer Taliban? Discourse analysis of the media coverage in the ‘Kurnaz Case’” looks at the role of the media concerning Guantánamo, the War on Terror and Human Rights.Richard works as a freelance journalist for a daily nationwide newspaper, amongst other print media.
